Halloween Costume Series #3: Moana & Makeup by Legendary Brows and Lashes
Wrapping up this series and it has definitely been fun! I’ve tried my best to fit into each character and even try to match scenery and background to them. This time around I decided to do Moana! Yes, she is like 15 years old in the movie lol… but I guess I’ll be the 26 year old version of Moana. Why did I pick Moana? I’m not even gonna lie, I’ve never watched the movie… however, someone suggested her to me and I thought I could pull it off mainly because we have similar features. I also decided to have an awesome lady do my makeup for me for this costume and she did an amazing job! More details of that below!
Now one thing I do know about Moana is that she (like Chun-Li) is also a strong women on a journey to save her people and whatnot. Moana comes off as a fearless teenager and regardless of her age she does whatever it takes to meet her end goal… that’s also why I liked her.
Of course, gotta talk about the full outfit details and how much I spent. Because I already had a lot of the items featured in the Moana costume I probably spent the least in this costume than any other costume I’ve done so far. So let’s start from head to toe, I had a flower crown already but it was very simple… so I went to Party city and Dollar Tree and bought a pink lei for $1 and I bought a red bouquet for $1 as well at Dollar Tree. I made the crown myself and I loved how pretty it came out. The necklace: I already had a brown necklace or cord (whatever you wanna call it) so I went to Joann’s to get the turquoise pendant, which luckily was half off so I spent like $4 on that. Also that’s where I got the fabric for the little scarf belt she wears that matches her top… that was about $2. The top was bought at H&M and it was on sale for $10. I did add the little beige lace outlining the top of the crochet top just to add a more Moana touch… I spent like $2 on that at Joann’s. The skirt was actually a scarf that I already owned and the Hawaiian grass skirt I got from a Halloween store for $4. She’s barefoot so I didn’t really have to worry about shoes LOL. So I know a lot of these things can be purchased in stores but I stil lwent ahead and linked most of the look that you can just affordably shop for online.
So there you have it, I spent a total of about $25 in this costume. Again that was because a lot of the things I used for it I DIY’d it or already owned. So if you’re on a budget this Halloween get creative!
Also I do wanna talk to you guys about my makeup. I had the opportunity to get my makeup done by Shelbie for this specific shoot and she did AMAZING! Just look at my eye shadow!! Loved the service Shelbie provided, from beginning to end she made me feel so comfortable and at ease! I’ll definitely be going back to get my lashes done with her. Shelbie’s studio is located in LaPorte, it was about a 45 min. drive to me but it is so worth it. Shelbie’s rates are the best and she does an amazing job, her work inlcudes makeup, lashes, microblading and more! I have been to other makeup/lashes places and the customer service has not been up to par, which I believe is huge! So I’ve linked her business instagram below, trust me her prices for lashes and makeup don’t go over $80 and she does an amazing amazing job so I HIGHLY reccommend Legendary Brows and Lashes. Take a look at my makeup below 🙂
